For the Love of Blond Bond

Even though the new James Bond flick, Casino Royale, won't be in theatres until November 17, the lunchroom was abuzz today with talk of the new Bond, Daniel Craig, and whether or not he's "right" for the part. The six women I polled all lamented the loss of Pierce Brosnan, whom they consider to be the ultimate Bond actor, after Sean Connery of course, who was deemed inimitable.

To this, I have two words for you bitches: short shorts.

And who loves short shorts? Katrocket loves short shorts!

I dunno if anyone caught Brosnan in The Matador (which is a great movie, by the way, don't listen to the critics!), but he sure couldn't pull off this look.

I can't fucking wait for November.

I read Casino Royale a few years and was surprised it hadnt been made into a movie. This guy looks pretty f'ing hot, and hopefully can act too.

007 is supposed to have the body of a swimmer, so it's nice that they at least are being true to that. Pierce Brosnan was alright though, he pulled off the 'class; part of it.

haha! With a bod like that, I'm guessing he might stop at 2 or 3 hot dogs. Clearly not a contender!

Actually, Casino Royale HAS already been made into a movie, though nothing like the 2006 version. In 1967, Peter Sellers, David Niven, Ursula Andress, Orson Welles, Woody Allen, and a cast of famous players starred in this spy-thriller spoof. It even won an Oscar in 1968 for a song on it's soundtrack! It was never considered a "real" Bond movie because it wasn't directly based on Fleming's book, but was instead a parody of it. I think it's fucking brilliantly hilarious, but Bond afficionados tend to sweep this one under the rug. Rent it if you can - sometimes it shows up on Sunday afternoon movies.

And I also liked Pierce in the role of Bond. I really did - thought he was perfect. But he's getting a little too old to play the part, so I'm very happy with the producers choice to go back to Ian Fleming's true Bond character from the novels. He's edgier and darker, not such a poofty smartass. And in my opinion, Daniel Craig can certainly act. I thought he was brilliant in Layer Cake. He's also played good supporting roles in Tomb Raider (the first one), Munich, and Road to Perdition.

And that was your Movie Minute with Katrocket!
