I'll miss you

Yesterday my mom lost her brief but fierce battle with cancer. She was a witty conversationalist, a patient teacher, a tender and compassionate caregiver, a 3-drink drunk, and the kind of friend you'd definitely want in your corner when things aren't going your way.

She devoted her life to the care and assistance of others -- as a doting grandmother to Zoe & Ethan, as a palliative care nurse, as an activation therapist for the elderly, and as a devoted volunteer at her local hospice. She made a lot of people's misery a lot more bearable. She helped so many lost ones find their way. She could make people laugh out loud when they had no reason to.

My family and I would like to thank you for all your support during the past 5 months. Rocketradio will be going off the air for a week of much needed rest.

She sounds amazing and there's a compassion in her eyes in that picture that radiates and sparkles. How could she not make you feel better with just those eyes alone?

I'm also sorry, and other words too, hopefully better words than these, because words after a loss like this are like what I imagine I'd be like walking in high heels: awkward and not at all close to achieving the desired effect (which in this case would be some small measure of consolation). I hope that life starts to feel like home again soon - not the same home, of course, but an acceptable variant.

I had no idea your family was going through this... What a tough thing!

You're in our thoughts! As Pistols said, there are no words.

we have to be brave and take thinks as they are. is better then to live in illusion. celebrate the death we all will embrace one day and enjoy the livings.

I don't like it when life intrudes on life.

It sounds like you're very satisfied at being her daughter and if she knew that, you're going to be fine.

I look forward to your return.

Hey everyone - thanks for your kind words and condolences. I've always appreciated this little circle of buddies I have here on Blogger - even more so now.

Just want you to know I'm doing good... as Cipri says, I am celebrating her life and her freedom from the pain she was suffering.

Bert sums things up very nicely: I am very proud and satisfied to be her daughter, and she certainly did know it.

Be back soon....
