Night of a Dozen Stevies

If you're in the Greater Toronto Area and looking for some Big Downtown Excitement on a Tuesday night, I welcome you to drop by Alibi on Tuesday, May 27th - 10pm to help celebrate Stevie Nicks' 60th birthday with Crystal Visions and friends.

For one night only, Smirnoff Ice and Proud FM's Deb "Dirk" Pearce present The Passion of the Stevie, the city's ultimate drag Stevie karaoke event, featuring performances by Crystal Visions, Trixie and Beever, Betty Dimo, Big Daddy K, and more! And it's an Open Mic event, so pick a tune and bring out your inner gold dust woman.

The seventh person who buys me a gimlet wins a date with Katrocket.

Oh, and there will be cake. And prizes -- as if the promise of cake isn't enough for you people.

I dunno about this event, but I'm sure glad to see you back in blogland today!

Now wait, did you say GIBLET? Eww, I hate those parts of the turkey.

Happy to be back, Daniel. Rocketstudio has been rockin' lately (so don't bother knockin')

...and I said "gimlet", which is gin and lime juice, but I am also accepting Gimlis, if you should have any to spare.

Gimli? The town or the dwarf?

Your past reviews of Gimli (the town) have influenced me to choose Gimli (the dwarf).

I am no where near Toronto, but I shall mark this on my calendar to attend in spirit...

Oh God, are you kidding? I've pretended to be Stevie many times in my bedroom mirror, singing "Rhiannon" while twirling about and snorting baby powder like it was cocaine. Okay so I made up part of that last part. I won't say whether it was the twirling or the snorting.

yay Ginger! Wear a shawl and start a brawl, baby!

Beckeye: How I wish you lived closer. We could sing "Leather and Lace". I could be your Tom Petty.

I was looking at the poster before I read and wondered how Nicks picked that pic of herself. Then I read it and I LOVE that poster. I want one. You can keep the dwarf.

Leonesse: I didn't do the layout, but the photography is mine (Crystal is my BFF), so I'll take the credit for its overall amazingness.

Send your e-mail address to katrocket@rogers.com and I'll send you a PDF miniposter that you can print out and frame.

Here's my prediction, and tell me if it comes true....

There is going to be one queen, or many, who will sing "I Will Survive" at some point during this event. It's in every drag queen's contract.

James: In my experience, that kinda thing only happens in movies or on cruise ships, but I'll report back on Wednesday.
