My place of employment did not observe a minute's silence at 11:00 today. There were actually tears of anger from some of my coworkers.

Two things make me jingoistic: things like this, and the movie Air Force One. I'm really not proud of the latter.

Hmm, I should have watched the video before posting that comment... sorry about that.

That was heartbreaking. And yet, somehow uplifting at the same time that she was able to draw strength from the support of the people on the bridge.

imaginary reviewer: I can see why some people get upset, but I also recognize that our workplaces are full of people from different backgrounds/cultures, and feel no connection to war or loss. The minute of silence holds very little meaning to some. I think those people suck.
